How to Restore From a Backup (Recommended Process) Print

Restores are high-impact. When possible, test restores on staging first.

Recommended Restore Process

  1. Download the backup archive from local/off-site storage
  2. Put WHMCS into maintenance mode (or restrict access)
  3. Restore files to the correct WHMCS directory
  4. Restore the database (if included) using a reliable DB restore method
  5. Verify configuration (paths, permissions, cron)
  6. Clear caches and test Admin + Client Area

After Restore Checklist

  • Admin login works
  • Client area loads
  • Attachments/downloads display correctly
  • Cron is running
