Overview
Local storage saves backups on the WHMCS server itself. This is the easiest option, but it is not off-site.
Setup
- Choose a directory outside of public web root when possible
- Ensure the directory is writable by PHP
- Ensure enough free disk space for backups
Best Practices
- Use local storage only as a short-term cache
- Always maintain at least one off-site copy
- Enable retention/cleanup to prevent disk fill
Troubleshooting
- If backups fail to write, check directory permissions
- If disk fills, reduce retention or move to off-site storage
