Why Folder IDs Matter
Some Google Drive configurations require a destination folder ID to upload backups into the correct folder.
How to Find a Folder ID
- Open Google Drive in your browser
- Click the destination folder
- Look at the URL in your browser
- The Folder ID is the long string after
/folders/
Example
If the URL is:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AbCDefGHIjKlmNoPqRsTuvWxYz
Then the Folder ID is:
1AbCDefGHIjKlmNoPqRsTuvWxYz
Common Mistakes
- Using the shared link ID for a file instead of a folder
- Using a folder you do not have write access to
- Trying to write into a shared drive without proper permissions
