Unpack the release at your WHMCS root
The release archive is already rooted at the right place. Unzip it in the directory that holds your configuration.php — your WHMCS root — and its two directories land exactly where WHMCS looks for them:
modules/servers/htech_idrive_e2/— the provisioning module and the whole client areamodules/addons/htech_idrive_e2_tools/— your settings, the scheduled passes, and the Update page
That is the whole of it. Nothing is written into includes/, nothing is written beside any other vendor's module, and nothing is written to your document root. Both halves ship together and carry the same version number.
Do not rename either directory. WHMCS keys a module off its folder name, so a renamed directory becomes a different module as far as the platform is concerned, and every service record and log row would then point at something that isn't what you installed.
Keep the same file ownership your other WHMCS modules use — on cPanel, that is your account's own user, not root.
Activate the addon — uploading the files alone registers nothing
Go to Addons → Addon Modules, find hTech IDrive e2 Tools, and press Activate.
Uploading the module files does not register any scheduled work with WHMCS. The platform does not scan module folders for hook files on its own. Activation is what installs them, and until it runs, none of this module's scheduled passes will ever fire — nothing is purged, nothing is reconciled, and no overage is ever examined. Provisioning and the client area still work in the meantime, which is exactly why this gap is easy to miss.
Activation installs two files into includes/hooks/, and both are required: one registers the cron trigger all three scheduled passes hang off, and the other registers the companion addon's own settings namespace. If only one of the two is present, either the scheduled passes fail on every tick, or nothing runs at all.
To confirm activation worked, read the banner WHMCS shows you after you press the button — it names each of the two files separately and tells you what it did with each one. Do not use WHMCS's own Module Debug Log or its "hooks" listing as your check; several other working hTech modules on a live install do not appear there either, and an empty result there tells you nothing.
Put your licence key in, and set your storage tiers
The next two steps — entering your licence key, and stating the storage tiers you intend to sell — are covered in their own articles, because nothing is orderable until both are done.
